Gorfanc offers a truly close-to-nature camping experience in the peaceful and wild Welsh countryside. With just six wild pitches, you will have lots of space and lots of freedom to roam and explore.
About Gorfanc
Gorfanc is a peaceful and eco-friendly wild camping site in the beautiful hills of Mid-Wales, within easy reach of the borders and the coast. It's very much a back-to-basics site, where dark skies are full of stars and camp fires are almost compulsory. Pitches are a short walk from your car and you'll need to be happy with basic but adequate and clean facilities. It's ideal for families who want to be in the real outdoors, couples wanting seclusion, and anyone looking for the opportunity for solitude. The site accommodates just six pitches on a wild camping basis - and it's rare that all are occupied. Choose to be sheltered by the stream, open to the wider views, remote and secluded, or closer to the parking and facilities. Most of the pitches are out of sight of each other and you'll have a short walk from your vehicle to your pitch. Some pitches have room for more than one small or medium tent, or one large tent, while others are only big enough for one small 1 or 2 person tent. Because of the lie of the land, very large tents cannot be accommodated, so do check.
Campers are welcome all year round but may find that the ground is too wet for much of the winter.
There are 6 accommodation options on-site
6 x Wild Camping Pitches
Pitching areas are Streamside, Henge, Theo's Corner, The Ledge, The Field and Top Pitch. Some pitches are by the stream, while others are in more open places.

Site rules and policies
We expect campers to be reasonably quiet - even if there are no other campers- and respect the fact that this is a peaceful location.
We have gates that must be kept shut at all times.
You are responsible for the behaviour and safety of your children.
We allow dogs but please arrange this with us first - Because there are sheep and free-ranging hens it is very important that they are kept on a lead or tethered at all times and there is no chance of escape from your tent.
Please do not cut or break branches from the trees and hedges. We can provide you with firewood or you can bring your own.
Please be sure to clear up when you leave and take everything with you.
Things to do on site and in the Caersws area
There are no onsite activities other than what you bring with you, but everyone enjoys a campfire! That said, there is lots of open access countryside to explore, as well as the river to play in and a pub just down the road.
Nearby beaches include Aberdovey, Borth, Tywyn and Barmouth, along with the university town of Aberystwyth. The pleasant market towns of Llanidloes, Machynlleth, Newtown and Montgomery are all not far away either.
The fabulous mountains of Southern Snowdonia are waiting to challenge the adventurous, but there is plenty of gentler walking and cycling available too.
Popular local tourist attractions include the Centre For Alternative Technology, and Powis Castle with its famous gardens.
