Gunnelgate House is a quiet, dog friendly site with open views towards the traditional town of Louth and the Lincolnshire Wolds beyond. It's only a 10 minute walk to the local village of Saltfleet where you can have a pint, nibble something from the fish and chip shop and head for the beach. Kids will love watching seals lounge at the local nature reserve.
About Gunnelgate House Certificated Site
This is a relaxed site, where everyone who stays comments on the views and amazing sunsets. A 10 minute drive away will take you to Donna Nook Nature Reserve, an enormous beach used for grey seal breeding (mid October to December). Donna Nook is also used throughout the year as a practice bombing range by the RAF and you can often see jets practising - sometimes they can be seen and heard from the site. The site is located on an open field, and all pitches are on grass with and without electric hook-up. It's home to plenty of wildlife, such as curlews, lapwings, pheasants, owls, buzzards and marsh harriers. In the wee hours you might see badgers, hares or deer. Well behaved dogs welcome.

Things to do on site and in the Louth area
There are a few bikes on site free for campers to use. Lots of footpaths and bridleways close by. The whole family will love seeing the seals at Donna Brook.
St James church in Louth is where falcons love to nest and the church café has live cameras so that you can watch the falcons and chicks navigating the world. If you enjoy walking, this base connects to many miles of scenic public footpaths so you can get some exercise and hunt for more wildlife.
Why not motor up and down the Lincolnshire Coast - as Mablethorpe is 8 miles and Cleethorpes 12 miles away. You can't beat a real seaside spot and there are shops galore. The town of Louth, which is known as the capital of the Wolds, is 8 miles in land.
Louth is a great place to visit tasty cafes, browse the weekly markets, try new restaurants or check out a local pub. You're only 12 miles from famous Cadwell Park, so motorbike fans are in luck.
If you fancy a longer drive, it's just an hour to the city of Lincoln - known for its cathedral and historic castle.
Head in the other direction for just over an hour and you can cross the impressive Humber Bridge, and dig into Hull, a recent winner of the City of Culture award. In Hull there are plenty of shops, restaurants, pubs even world famous attractions such as The Deep - an incredible aquarium.
