About St Johns-in-the-Vale Camping Barn
A great location for walking holiday groups or those challenging themselves on the Duke of Edinburgh Award to rest and keep warm in the heart of the stunning Lake District. The camping barn has a sleeping area for 8 upstairs, with a ground floor seating and dining area. It has a separate toilet, shower and a basic kitchen area all within the building. For when hunger strikes, the farm has a tea garden serving home baked treats. There is a wood burner which provides ample heat and acts as a focal point for the evening's reflections on the events of the day. Mattresses are provided but don't forget your sleeping bag to keep toasty. Outside, parking is available for two cars. There is also a BBQ and outside seating area with mountain and river views. The camping barn welcomes up to two well-behaved dogs.

Site rules and policies
Respect other visitors.
Arrival time is after 4pm and check out by 10am on the morning of departure. The barn will be ready for your arrival.
parking for 2 cars outside, further parking available over the bridge.
Dogs must be kept under control at all times and we should remind you that the owner of the dog is responsible for any damage it causes to farm stock.
If a dog is not properly controlled we reserve the right to ask that it be removed from the premises.
Things to do on site and in the Keswick area
Before you head out exploring, don't forget to join everyone in the farm's tea garden for homemade cakes and ice cream or hot drinks.
Walkers can start from the doorstep following the Woodland Trail, which shows off the different types of woodland in the area and offers examples of local craftsmanship. There are two lovely observation points included too.
Alternatively, follow the river path and spend an entire day exploring the stunning national park. Thirlmere's shore is only a mile away so you'll want to take on the challenge of Raven Crag and Steel Fell there.
You will find a profusion of birds, including dippers, kingfishers, buzzards and herons. Red squirrels, badgers, hares, deer and otters may be seen in their natural habitats. Bats and owls will join you at dusk when the salmon and trout are rising.
The beautiful market town of Keswick is within easy driving distance and draws visitors with the Theatre by the Lake for top performances or head to Castlerigg Stone Circle to explore ancient history.
