Great Langdale Bunkhouse has 20 single beds divided into 3 twin rooms, one room of 6 and one room of 8 (all bunk beds). The rooms are simple but comfortable and each room has a double plug socket. The bunkhouse has biomass central heating throughout so its toasty warm with an endless supply of hot water with powerful showers. There are separate male and female shower and toilet facilities shared between all rooms.
About Great Langdale Bunkhouse
Great Langdale Bunkhouse offers simple, clean and welcoming accommodation for small groups, families and larger groups of up to 20 people. Situated amidst some of the finest mountain scenery in England with immediate access to world class mountain biking, road cycling, walking, fell running and climbing. The bunkhouse has 20 single beds divided into 3 twin rooms, one room of 6 and one room of 8 (all bunk beds). The rooms are simple but comfortable and each room has a double plug socket. The bunkhouse has biomass central heating throughout so its toasty warm with an endless supply of hot water with powerful showers. There are separate male and female shower and toilet facilities shared between all rooms. Well behaved dogs are welcome, provided they are never left alone in the room and are not allowed to wander freely around the bunkhouse or surrounding areas. When out walking, dogs should be kept on a lead at all times as the sheep are allowed to freely roam the Langdale Valley. The Great Langdale Bunkhouse has been privately owned by Sabrina and Ben since 2013.

Room 1- Raven Crag
A twin room with bunk beds and mattresses.
Room 2- High Raise
A room for 2 containing a pine bunkbed with a single mattress on top and bottom.
Room 3- Thunacar Knott
A room for two containing a pine bunkbed with a single mattress on top and bottom.
Room 4- Harrison Stickle
A 7 person dorm with 3 bunkbeds and 1 single bed. Ideal for larger groups.
Room 5- Pike of Stickle
An 8 person room with 4 pine bunk beds to suit large groups or families.

Site rules and policies
We do not accept stag-do's or hen-do's. If you're after a boozy weekend this isn't the place for you. You are requested not to bring or consume your own alcohol unless its in moderation.
Cancellation policy:
- Cancellations made for any room within 14 days of arrival date will render you liable for the full amount.-
- Cancellations made for any room before 14 days of arrival date will result in loss of deposit only (50%).
Reservation policy:
- All bookings are provisional until you provide a 50% non-refundable deposit.
- Full payment is due 14 days prior to your stay.
- Bookings will only be held for a maximum of 7 days whilst awaiting a deposit payment.
- Booking deposits can be paid via a payment link sent by e-mail or using our online booking system.
All weekend bookings are assumed to be for a minimum of 2 nights unless agreed previously. Any subsequent reduction will be charged at the full 2 nights.
By giving us your debit or credit card details you are authorising us to use this as security for your reservation and your accommodation. Any unpaid cancellation charges, unregistered extra guests or damages and removals (linen or fixtures and fittings) will be charged to your debit or credit card. The charges will be as follows and/or at the discretion of the business owner:
Extra cleaning charges: if our cleaners report back to us that they have had to spend longer cleaning up your room or the toilets during your stay you will be charged at £20 per hour extra labour
- Damage to property - damaged/soiled mattress: £120
- Damaged bunked: £400
- Disturbing the peace - excessive noise after 10.30pm that upsets other guests - £50
These charges will be directly debited from your card if the amount exceeds what we are able to charge your card i.e. >15% of your booking fee then we will send you an invoice for the outstanding amount, if this is not settled within 7 days then a £10 admin fee will be added and it will be referred to a small claims court.
Guest behaviour:
- All buildings and grounds are strictly no smoking areas anyone found smoking or in possession of or using illegal drugs will be asked to leave immediately. No refund will be given.
- You are requested not to bring or consume your own alcohol unless in moderation.
- All breakages and damage should be reported and will be charged for.
- Consideration should be given to other guests at all times. There should be no noise that disturbs other guests after 10:30pm and before 7am. Guests who flout this may be asked to leave with no refunds given.
- It is the responsibility of the guest to ensure their belongings are secure at all times.
- Anyone who interferes with hostel fire fighting equipment or fire alarms will be prosecuted.
Cancellations by Great Langdale Bunkhouse
- On rare occasions we may need to cancel your booking. This is usually due to circumstances beyond our control.
- We will always seek to find you alternative accommodation with the local area. We have good relationships with other local accommodation providers.
- You may be offered a full refund, or to transfer your booking to another date. This offer would normally only be at your request unless there was no other suitable accommodation available in the local area.
- You can be assured that a cancellation by us is a last resort option.
Things to do on site and in the Ambleside area
At the bunkhouse there's a chance to grab a home cooked meal from the nearby pub and explore the village of Ambleside.
Head to the other side of the small town to explore the beautiful Stock Ghyll Force waterfall and hunt for rainbows in the spray. There's also a Roman fort close at hand in Ambleside and the Peter Hill art gallery in the centre of town will tempt art lovers.
Thanks to the superb location in the centre of the Lakes the main attractions further afield are:
- Walking and hiking around Grasmere, Windermere and Thirlmere
- Climbing Scaffell Pike
- Mountain biking
- Fell running
Don't miss Castle Wray's nineteenth century charm or the magic of Wordsworth's Dove Cottage, close to the edge of Grasmere's tranquil shore.
