Sharpley Camping offers a back to basics, spacious open field for tent camping, where the pitches are nice and flat and you can sit back and relax while your children play. Anyone looking for a little more comfort can get cosy in a heated glamping pod, complete with hot tub, campfire and heating! It's close to the Coast to Coast cycle route and a 10 minute drive from Seaham. Free pedal karts for kids on site!
About Sharpley Camping
This four-acre rural site is well positioned between Durham (20 minutes away), home to an elegant cathedral and botanic gardens, and the lovely seafront at Seaham (10 mins away) with its beach and heritage centre. You can even see the sea from a few spots on site. Tent camping with fine views is on grassed pitches. These offer plenty of space and optional electric. Lots of room for kids to potter around and play, with campfires also welcome to keep toasty in the evening. Karting is an option for days when the kids need some more entertainment! For a taste of the glam life, book one of the luxurious glamping pods. These include your own private hot tub for sunset soaks, heating, electric and a raised double bed. Bring camp beds with you to sleep two kids as well. Well behaved dogs are welcome both with campers and in the glamping pods!
The site is open for camping between April and October, with pods available all year.

Site rules and policies
Admission
Admission is only permitted after registering at reception.
All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.
Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.
Arrivals and departures
Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
Units will be allocated on arrival.
Changes to your holiday
Bookings cannot be amended within 5 day(s) of arrival.
Dogs
A valid vaccination certificate must accompany your dog.
Dogs must be kept on leads and supervised at all times.
Guide dogs are allowed on site free of charge.
The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).
Your dog must be tattooed or microchipped.
General
Quiet hours must be respected between 10:30 p.m. and 7 a.m..
Radio, music and TV players must be kept at a low volume. Car doors and boots must be closed quietly.
The management reserves the right to deny access or terminate the stay of those guests whose behaviour is deemed unsuitable. No refunds will be offered.
The site is not liable for any refund in the event of force majeure.
Hired accommodation
Hired accommodation: £50.00 damage/cleanliness/bracelet deposit is required on arrival and will be refunded on departure after inspection of your unit should no damage/losses be found.
The damage/cleanliness/bracelet deposit required on arrival can only be paid for in cash.
Your unit must be left clean and tidy; a fine of £25.00 will be charged for unclean units upon departure.
The site caters for families (immediate members) and couples only - bookings from all other forms of groups are not accepted.
Pitches
Units should not be left unoccupied overnight unless previously agreed with the management. Please speak to reception when the need arises, a fee may be charged for unsupervised units.
You must follow the management directives when pitching your tent/unit and related equipment.
Safety
Barbecues are permitted but must be raised off the ground and attended by an adult at all times.
Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit.
If making a fire, the fuel, logs and coal have to be purchased on site.
Vehicles
Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site without notifying the site first
Continental touring caravans (caravans built with the door on the right-hand side) are not permitted.
Visitors
Visitors must register at reception and pay their fee.
Things to do on site and in the Seaham area
Free to use pedal go karts make the perfect option for restless kids who love to race.
The wider area offers an excellent golf course and adrenaline fans will also love the go-kart track and nearby paintballing.
A quick five minute hop in the car will take you to Down At The Farm to meet, greet and cuddle lots of farm animals.
Or why not spend the day at Seaham where you can get to know a little World War I (this is the home of the Tommy statue). Lots of beach to walk along, or to get the kids playing in the waves.
Don't miss some fun in Durham, which is an attractive city, buzzing with a historic castle botanical gardens, peaceful river and of course its famous cathedral.
