About the site

Stay in one of only two shepherd's huts within beautiful countryside, only a five minute drive from the village of Woodhall Spa. A unique setting in 20 acres of parkland, and adjacent to a bluebell and wild garlic filled wood, there's plenty to explore on site whilst being away from mass tourism. Comfortable double beds, sleeping two adults in each hut, a fully equipped kitchen and a woodburner make for comfortable accommodation in natural surroundings. The huts are in medieval parkland, adjacent to a wood where there is the opportunity to observe abundant wildlife, and nearby walking and cycling trails make it possible to explore the countryside easily. The huts contain everything you need, including electricity. On site there is a barbecue area, campfire, and seating to enjoy the peaceful days and spectacular night sky. The Kingfisher hut is situated next to the pond so you can observe the wildlife and relax outdoors on the lawn. The Nuthatch has outstanding views over the meadows and has it's own eco wood fired hot tub in the garden area. On arrival the hosts provide a welcome pack, complete with free range eggs which will taste delicious in your breakfast.

Site facilities include toilets and shower within a few steps of the hut, plus a BBQ and outside seating.

Within a couple of miles are pubs and restaurants, and in nearby Woodhall Spa there are shops, a park with a swimming pool, and an independent cinema.

A note from the site themselves...

We bought Darwood House in 2010 and fell in love with it's unique character - it happens to be the oldest stone farmhouse in Lincolnshire, dating back to the early 15th century.

The farm is very peaceful and has a huge range of wildlife that visits from the two woods that it nestles between and the old meadows that surround it.

We are environmentally friendly - positively encouraging recycling, reducing our energy footprint by using woodburning stoves to heat the shepherds huts and hot tub - and use eco friendly products.

Self catering shepherd's hut for two, a double bed, bedding, electricity and a toasty wood burning stove inside. The hut also includes a hob and sink with cooking supplies. Unique spot overlooking a wildlife pond, woods, with outside dining and barbecue.

The Nuthatch

Beautifully hand built shepherds hut with many features - cooking facilities, fridge, woodburner and double bed, etc. Outside seating area and barbecue with wood fired hot tub.

Nearby walking trails take you through Lincolnshire and the quiet country roads are perfect for a gentle cycle ride, making it easy to explore the Wolds.

The area has a long association with aviation, and less than an hour's walk away is the Petwood Hotel, which is linked to the famous 617 Dambusters Squadron and the nearby Battle of Britain Flight at RAF Coningsby, ideal for history buffs.

A 35 minute trip in the car will take you to Lincoln, where you can wander its stunning cathedral, indulge in some retail therapy and explore beautiful parks.
