Enjoy kayaking at the New Forest Water Park

5 reasons to visit the New Forest Water Park

The New Forest is a pefect place to come to enjoy some outdoor activities. The New Forest Water Park is a bit of a hidden gem, so here are 5 reasons you should try it on your next holiday.

1 Watersports

The first reason you should want to go to a water park is to try your hand at a water sport! The New Forest Water Park has several choices of watery activities, and one of the most popular is kayaking. This activity can be tried by the whole family, and after some basic tuition you can spend a relaxing afternoon paddling around the lake. There are both single and double kayaks for hire, which cost £15 and £25 per hour respectively.

You can also take the pace up a notch by trying water skiing or wakeboarding. A new cable system was installed here in 2013, so rather than being pulled along by a motor boat, the cable takes you over the water and up any of the ramps you want to try. The new system allows more people to take to the water at once and reduces the impact on the environment.

2 Fishing

If water sports really aren’t your thing, then you might be wondering what else you can do while the family are taking to the water. Well, the keen fishers amongst you could while away the hours with their favourite pastime! The water park has a lake that is stocked with Tench, Carp and Giant Wells Catfish.

3 Trying new things

Whether you’re a complete beginner at water sports or a real expert, this water park has several activities which most of you will never have tried before. Paddleboarding, for instance, is a recent craze to hit Britain, having originated in the sunnier climes of Hawaii. This sport can be undertaken by the whole family, and in just a few short minutes you’ll have learned how to stand on the board and push yourself along with the paddle. Prices for this activity start at £20 per hour.

And if the gentle sport of paddleboarding doesn’t appeal, give in to fun and take a trip on the banana boat or tyre ride! Powered by the park’s speedboat, you will be pulled along at high speed to get a real adrenaline rush – it’ll leave you with a big smile on your face! Only adults and children over 11 years old can try this activity, and it costs £35 for 15 minutes.

4 Fresh air and the outdoors

The Water Park is set in an extensive area of countryside, so why not pack your walking boots and your sun lotion and take a walk around the beautiful area surrounding the park? There are woodland areas and hills, so you can choose a path based on your group’s age and ability. You may even encounter some of the New Forest’s famous residents – the ponies! Within the park itself there are also picnic tables, so take your lunch with you and dine outside.

5 The nearby area

The Water Park is situated near to Fordingbridge, which is well worth a visit. It’s a pretty, riverside town and one of the most picturesque sites to see is its lovely medieval bridge which has seven arches. While in the town, you could pop into the small museum which is absolutely free to enter. The Fordingbridge Museum houses many items and curiosities telling the history of the town over the last 150 years. The Museum is open from Easter to October, Monday to Saturday.
