Located off the A1 south of Berwick-upon-Tweed, this private golf course is so highly regarded that it serves as a regional qualifier course for the Open Championship. Originally designed in 1890, it takes its name from the Romans who named the land on which it was built Goswick, which means Goose Farm. Players will appreciate the magnificent coastal landscape as well as the Pro Shop which accommodates a variety of equipment needs, the practice areas and the menu selection of the restaurant. The cost of an adult single round is £42 during the week and £48 on the weekend.

Close House

Within the impressive Close House Estate in Tyne Valley, you will find two striking private golf courses with refreshment venues in easy reach after an enjoyable game. The beautiful parklands provide a magnificent backdrop to a game of golf, with prices for the Lee Westwood Colt Course starting at £110 for visiting adults and £75 for visiting juniors in summer or £75 and £55 respectively in winter. The Lee Westwood Filly Course is £50 for visiting adults and £37.50 for visiting juniors in summer or £37.50 and £30 respectively in winter.

Bamburgh Castle

If you like to accompany your golf with incredible sea views and a magnificent castle in the backdrop as you play, Bamburgh Castle Golf Course in Bamburgh is the place to go. This private golf course hosts a number of open competitions as well as a pro-am tournament in collaboration with the PGA North East. A round of golf costs £39 during the week and £45 during the weekend, with fees including access to the practice areas and the century-old clubhouse built in 1904.

Hexham

About a mile west of the town of Hexham is the lovely Hexham Golf Club. The golf club is situated on the site of the ancient St Giles medieval hospice which originated in 1114. A host to championships such as the 2012 EWGA Northern Women's Championships and the 2014 English Seniors Championship, this private golf course welcomes visitors during the week and weekend, with a round of golf costing £35 and £45 respectively during summer.

Linden Hall

A variety of wildlife such as deer, red squirrels and birds of prey as well as great woodland and North Sea views are just some of the attractions offered by this championship golf course. This course in Longhorsley in Morpeth is suitable for both experienced and not so experienced golfers with golf tuition available if desired. There is a pub that provides food and drinks, as well as a Pro Shop and the splendid Linden Hall, a manor house that now serves as a hotel. Enquire online for prices and to schedule a tee time. The hotel also offers golf breaks, club hire and one-day golf schools.
