White Scar Cave

Perfect for a rainy day! For kids who love exploring, a visit to White Scar Cave is a trip to remember and a place for their imaginations to run wild. White Scar Cave is the UK’s longest show cave and visitors can discover its hidden wonders courtesy of a guided tour lasting about 80 minutes. Entry for visitors aged 16 or older is £9.50 and entry for children aged 3 to 15 is £6, with no entry fee for visitors younger than 3 years old.

The Forbidden Corner

Kids can be quite adept at doing what they’re told not to do, so exploring the Forbidden Corner should be right up their alley! This wonderful garden is full of surprises such as a tunnel labyrinth, follies, captivating sculptures and water features, and is sure to delight adults and children of all ages. Tickets cost £11 per adult and £9 for children aged 4 to 15, with free entry for children younger than 4.

Another World Adventure Centre

Bouncing into friends and family members in large inflatable balls, racing down hills on mountain boards, taking aim and testing archery skills, as well as navigating a rope course are just some of the super-fun activities on offer at Another World Adventure Centre. The activities cater to various age ranges, some suitable for visitors as young as 2 all the way up to adults, so both younger and older kids can participate and pick the activities that suit their preferences. Prices vary from one activity to the next.

York Maze

A chance to explore the biggest maze in the UK, navigate an obstacle course, clamber on a giant bale pyramid and climbing zone, get wet and go wild with water wars, have the mind boggled by optical illusions and urge your favourite on to win the pig races…with all of this and more, what child wouldn’t want to visit the top-notch York Maze? Online tickets to this amazing attraction cost £11.50 per adult and £10.50 per child aged 3 to 15, with free entry for kids younger than 3.

The Deep

The Deep is a magnificent aquarium in Hull that is home to 3,500 fish. This includes the only pair of green sawfish in Europe and very cute Gentoo penguins that will charm all of you. Visitors can travel through the deepest viewing tunnel in Europe as they marvel at the diverse sea life swimming around them and young kids will enjoy the soft play area too. Entry costs £11.50 for adults, £9.50 for children aged 3 to 15, and is free for children younger than 3.

Pirates Cove

There’ll be plenty of piratey yells of delight during a visit to Pirates Cove, a fantastic indoor play centre in Barnsley. Ball pools, slides, a bouncy castle and cargo nets are just some of the fun enticements that kids can look forward to. The play centre has a separate area for children younger than 4, so kids of varying ages can all enjoy themselves in a safe environment. Entry starts at £3.75, with no charge for children younger than 12 months or supervising adults.

Military Adventure Park

From toddlers to teens, kids with a sense of adventure will love getting active in the Military Adventure Park. A shooting range, tank driving, rock climbing and a drop slide are a few of the exciting activities that visitors can dive into. Activity prices are based on a token system, with individual tokens costing £1, while a bag of 25 tokens costs £20 and 50 tokens costs £35.

Tropical World

Animals galore and an abundance of plants make a trip to Tropical World in Leeds a treat for kids of all ages who love nature and wildlife. Visitors will find the biggest tropical plant collection outside of Kew Gardens here, as well as marvellous meerkats, terrific terrapins, beautiful butterflies and captivating crocodiles amongst the many animal residents. Entry is £3.40 per adult and £2.30 for children aged 5 to 15, with no charge for children younger than 5.

Calypso Cove

Pools, slides and flumes are waiting to whisk kids to a world of watery adventure at Calypso Cove. This pirate island themed waterpark in Barnsley offers wave upon wave of water-based attractions to entertain all members of the family. Tickets start at £6.20 per adult for 1.5 hours, £4.80 for kids aged 3 to 15 for 1.5 hours and £1.20 for children under 3 for 1.5 hours.

Weston Park Museum

With no entry fee and a wide range of displays and exhibits to appeal to both younger and older visitors, the Weston Park Museum in Sheffield is an entertaining and very economical way to enjoy an exciting day out with kids. Displays cover areas such as the natural world, art, history, world cultures and social history to name a few, so there’s plenty to attract adults as well as kids.
