About Forest Yurts

An easy 30 minute walk from the edge of the national park, these yurts make for an ideal base for those looking to explore the New Forest. It's just a short 15 minute walk into the pretty village of Bransgore, whilst the onsite Sopley Lake provides the perfect spot for fishing. Each of the yurts available is handmade and crafted but with a hint of magic, each influenced by its own unique theme. As you'd expect, the exotic furnishings are gorgeous with toasty warmth provided by a wood burner and a great night's sleep by a wonderfully comfortable bed. Three of the yurts sleep four in a double bed and two singles, whilst the larger Elephant yurt offers space for up to eight with two doubles and four singles. Both the Dragon and Almaty Elephant can also be booked together for a larger party which will then sleep six adults and six children. Guests here can enjoy unwinding in private as each yurt has its own facilities, with a hot shower, flushing loo, towels and a selection of eco-friendly bathroom products for you to enjoy. You can also rustle up some culinary delights with a private cooking station, including kitchenware, tableware, a BBQ, gas rings and a fridge. One of the great benefits of the outdoors, is that there will be a campfire ready for you outside, great for evenings of roasting marshmallows. You'll also be treated to a covered outside dining area so you can enjoy a spot of al fresco dining. Four-legged friends are welcome here too, so don't forget to make room for them in the car!

Forest Yurts is open from 01/04 to 05/10.

A note from the site themselves...

Our site first opened in 2011 with just Dragon Yurt on site. Our aim was always to create a yurt glamping experience that was the best. Our guests repeatedly use the word 'magical' when it comes to describing the combination of our wonderful yurts and Sopley Lake.

Since 2011 we have continued to grow. Over the years, we have added four more yurts. In 2013 we opened The Love Yurt, designed for romantics but also available for families. In 2015 we opened The Maharaja's Yurt, fit for an Indian prince on his travels. Helene, our interior designer travelled the North West of India buying fantastic fabrics and furnishings to fill the interior.

Our site appeals to both families and couples of all ages. Our site is a relaxing escape for your day-to-day life, but just because you are staying in a tent, there is no need to leave comfort behind - we call it nature without the rough!

Yurt - Dragon YurtAug 2024

Large cosy yurt for myself, partner and 2 teenagers (13 & 14). Usually go camping but was looking for "glamping" this time as just a quick break and didn't want the faff of putting a tent up and having to take everything and the kitchen sink! Was looking at bell tents and came across the Forest Yurts. Was pleased to see that it stated all kitchenware and tableware provided, plus fire pit, BBQ, gas hobs and you have your own toilet/shower next to your yurt. They even provide toiletries! Shower was lovely and hot and we had two toilets. Towels included too! There is no electric so bare that in mind if you need to charge phones, iPads. Take lots of power banks. The yurt is cosy and warm. Slight musty smell but everything is clean so this is normal given the surroundings! We had a double bed and 2 singles. My only tip would be maybe take a mattress topper for an bit of extra comfort. They provide all the bedding, so we would have plenty of room to bring one in the car next time. We read the previous reviews and brought some camping chairs but you don't really need them, as there's loads of seating around the campfire and the dining area, but they were handy for the beach! Another tip would be to bring some fairy lights. I put some up above the dining tables, just wrap them around the bracket on the canopy. Someone had left a citronella candle which was a really good one, so we lit that at night on the table and I had packed a few tea lights as well. We took mosquito spray just in case and put that on at night. I got one bite and so did my partner. Not an issue just good to know so you know what to bring. We were by the lake and in the forest so there's going to be a few insects. Fire was great at night we did s'mores of course! The wood and the charcoal/firefighters were all included! Kitchen facilities were great, they even provided dish clothes, washing up liquid and tea towels. We cooked on the BBQ and my daughter made chicken arrabiata on the hob! There were 4 battery operated lanterns provided which you can move around and there were a couple of little torches too. Maybe just take some more torches if there are quite a few of you as it does get very dark. Keep the bathroom door and yurt door closed so nothing is attracted to the lights/lanterns. The yurt is accessed through the Sopley farm entrance. There was a café and a bakery I think. You could get ice creams here too. You could also pick your own fruit and veg! There was gorgeous sunflowers everywhere and a cute friendly ginger cat which my daughter was very happy about! We spent the day at "Sobo" beach, Southbourne beach which was just 10 minutes away. Gorgeous, sandy beach where we took a picnic and went paddle boarding and swimming. Dog friendly too, just make sure you're on the right section where they are allowed. We went into Bournemouth too which was just 30 mins away. You really don't need to take anything apart from your food! Looking forward to going back next summer but for a longer stay!

Yurt - Dragon YurtJul 2024

We had a lovely stay at Forest Yurts. The yurt was spacious and clean. The outdoor area was also huge with everything we needed. The yurt was equipped with all the cooking essentials needed and a shower and toilet block. It was a treat to have actual running water! The location was beautiful, right on the lake. Also, the pick your own farm was great to do with our three year old.

Site's response

Thank you so much for your kind words. Delighted you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again!
