About Crannich Campsite

This scenic site is set on a traditional working farm on the Isle of Mull, an island famous for its wildlife, landscapes, beaches and rare geology. The site offers stunning panoramic views of Glen Aros from dusk to dawn and is ideal for those seeking a rural escape. The site offers six hardstanding pitches with electric hook ups exclusively for motorhomes, campervans and touring caravans. The pitches are large and well-spaced to ensure privacy. You'll also have the opportunity to meet the resident farm animals, including highland cattle, sheep, horses, Indian game, guineafowl and peafowl. Sustainability and biodiversity is hugely important to this site, and each year the owners plant hundreds of trees, slowly transforming the surrounding landscape into a native woodland. The site is well located for exploring the island's main attractions. You're just ten minutes from Salen, the closest village, and 25 minutes from Craignure, the main ferry port. The coastal town of Tobermory is also nearby and well worth a visit - you might recognise it from the children's TV series 'Balamory'! Feel free to bring your four-legged friend along for the fun, just remember to keep them on a lead around the site.

Crannich Campsite is open from 01/03 to 11/03 and 01/04 to 29/09 in 2024 and from 01/04 to 30/11 in 2025.

A note from the site themselves...

Crannichs story began back in 2003 when we moved from Devon to this beautiful Hebridean island with our young family to start a new adventure.

Our long term dream of combining farming and tourism began with creating a wonderful oasis of new woodlands, and natural landscaping with walks around wildlife ponds and on the land with its panoramic views of the glen, it's a place to unwind and relax truly.

The holiday caravans were first and a few years later we created our small family run campsite that runs happily alongside our farming business of award winning highland cattle and blackface sheep.

A great opportunity for those with an interest in nature woodland creation and animals to come and stay on a working island farm and to see what we do.

There was one tree when we moved here on the whole of Crannich farm, and over the years, we have planted extensively, creating new woodlands and landscaped areas around the campsite, all sensitively designed so we still retain the beautiful views across the glen and towards the white tailed sea eagle territory at Loch Frisa.

We hope those who come and stay share our passion for nature, wildlife and the great outdoors!

Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding PitchesSep 2024

Simple facilities but adequate in a remote peaceful location. Ideal to get away from everyday life. Good base to visit Tobermory. Great walks from the campsite as well so very much enjoyed our stay.

Very peaceful site, stunning views

Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding PitchesSep 2024

Very peaceful site, beautiful views. Loved the highland cows in the field. Only one toilet and shower, so would not recommend if you don't have your own facilities. Owner very helpful and kept us informed regarding the roadworks on the road near the site.

Disappointed

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding PitchesSep 2024

Beautiful location, spacious pitch. Great communication from owners regarding road works. Heard great things about the site so was looking forward to staying. I'm sad to say, I thought the facilities were poor, one toilet and shower and they were not the cleanest. I accept we arrived teatime and expect some use, but the facilities were dirty, cold, wet and dusty, the bins were overflowing and hadn't been emptied recently. It had been raining quite hard all day which probably didn't help. Maybe we saw it on a bad day as we only stayed one night and it had been a very wet, windy and cold few days, but just didn't feel very welcoming.
