Tode Abode is a peaceful campsite nestled in the heart of Hertfordshire by the River Ash. The site offers a great place to relax and enjoy countryside walks. Lee Valley White Water Centre is just 30 minutes away. Onsite, there are just four spacious grass pitches for tents and campervans as well as a shepherd's hut and bell tent. Pups are welcome too.

About Toad Abode

A small, tranquil campsite offering a peaceful escape in the heart of Hertfordshire. Set alongside the River Ash, the site provides a great place to relax and enjoy countryside walks with a stop at The Crown Inn the nearby country pub. The site offers four spacious grass pitches for tents as well as one hardstanding pitch for a campervan or roof tent. There is also one secluded grass pitch set by the river with its own campfire and swing chair. Don't have a tent? No problem, there is also a pre pitched bell tent and shepherd's hut onsite. Badger's Bell offers a cosy stay and has a double bed with the option of two single beds at an additional cost. Toad's Hut features a convertible double bed with a wood burner to keep you warm on the colder nights. Henry Moore Studios and Gardens are just a five minute drive away. Here you can explore beautiful grounds and look at the art and sculptures. BBQs are welcome as long as they are raised above the ground and fire pits are available to hire as well as bags of logs, kindling and fire lighters. Dogs are welcome too, so bring along your pup however Badger's Bell and Toad's Hut are dog free. Please note, this site doesn't provide showers.

Facilities and amenities

Site facilities include a composting toilet, a fresh drinking water tap and solar powered, motion sensor lighting and USB charging points. Please note, there are no showers onsite.

For essentials, there is a Londis a five minute drive away as well as a Lidl, Aldi, Tesco and a Sainsbury's 15 minutes away in Harlow. For a refreshing drink or homemade meal, the Chequers Inn is a five minutes drive.

A five minute drive will take you to Henry Moore Studios and Gardens where you can explore the Henry Moore Archive, Hoglands, the Moore's family home and over 70 acres of gardens with Moore's famous sculptures. Wander through six studios preserved as Moore would have used them and learn more about his artistic processes. Please note, only the Archive is open in winter and must be booked.

If adventure is what you're after, Lee Valley White Water Centre is a 30 minute drive away offering a range of activities from white water rafting on the Olympic course to family paddling on the lake.
