Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesSep 2024

Had a lovely stay at this campsite. It was very peaceful, we enjoyed having a fire and listening to the wildlife. A convenient location for Purbeck, Weymouth and Chesil and beyond. The showers were hot, everything was spotlessly clean and well run. Good value for money and would definitely visit again.

FAQ

Check-in is available from 9am until dusk, and you must vacate your pitch by noon on day of departure.

Yes, there are two well stocked fishing lakes onsite. The 1.5 acre Wally's lake caters to all levels for coarse fishing, stocked with Roach, Carp and Bream, while the larger 2.75 acre Meadow lake suits experienced anglers. Day tickets (8am-8pm) are available to purchase from the site, rod licence required.

Yes, dogs are welcome at the park, provided they are kept on a lead whilst on site - there are a number of public footpaths adjoining the site ideal for dog walks. Dog breeds listed on the Dangerous Dog Act 1991 are not permitted.

You can soak up the views over Weymouth Bay from the site, while the South Coast has plenty to explore with Dorset's glorious beaches and spectacular sunsets at Durdle Door. Laze under the sun at Bournemouth or Weymouth beach, or admire the breathtaking views atop Corfe Castle (18.1 miles). Other attractions nearby include: *Monkey World (10.5 miles) - situated within Dorset woodland, this rescue centre has more than 250 primates to see and an adventure play area for the little ones. *Chesil Beach (11 miles) - arguably Dorset's most famous beach, stretching for 18 miles between West Bay and Portland.

Gazebos and pup tents are allowed. Awnings are not allowed on site.

Thanks to an excellent riding school next to the site, you can take a ride in Dorset's unbeatable scenery, with plenty of lessons and walkouts on offer, ideal for finding your feet and having a go.

If you're keen to keep both feet on the ground instead, your chances of catching a whopper here are excellent. In Wally's Lake you'll find top roach, carp and bream, while Meadow Lake is a fantastic challenge for experienced anglers.

Step outside of your door and you'll find yourself in Hardy's countryside, where you can bring to life the settings of his books. Dorchester (15 minutes) flies straight off his pages and you can even visit the author's birthplace, a sweet cottage in Higher Bockhampton, set within woodland.

It's enough to make anyone want to put their best foot forward and get exploring or his home at Max Gate in Dorchester.

In the mood for a stunning coastline? Take in stunning Corfe Castle (30 minutes) or get a taste of the real seaside (and its fabulous beaches) at Weymouth (10 minutes) and Bournemouth (1 hour). Watching the sunset near the arch of Durdle Door (20 minutes) or Lulworth Cove (20 minutes) is the ultimate bucket list moment.

Other nearby attractions include:

  • Sea Life Centre Weymouth (10 minutes)
  • Xtreme Falconry at Dorset Falconry Park (15 minutes)
  • Monkey World - Ape Rescue Centre (20 minutes)
  • The Tank Museum (20 minutes)
  • Nothe Fort (25 minutes)
