Medium Tent - Non-Electric Grass Tent PitchesAug 2023
On arrival, we were greeted by the owner, who showed us the facilities and then our pitch.
We asked if we could have the pitch next to the park, which we were told was absolutely fine. This was fantastic, as we were travelling with our boys, one of whom lives with non-verbal autism. He was able to play in the park with independence and safety while we watched on from the tent. The pitch was plenty big enough for our tent, trailer and car.
The toilets and shower area, although small, were scrupulously clean throughout our entire stay and toilet rolls refilled regularly. The basin has no hot water, but there is soap and cold water for hand washing. The shower was £1 for 5 minutes, which I was happy to pay for a lovely hot shower. My boys (husband included), like the back to basics way of life, so showering was not on their list of priorities, so it wasn't too expensive for our 11 night stay. The dishwashing area had 2 sinks, one with hot running water, microwave, fridges and freezers all of which were once again scrupulously clean.
During our stay families and couples came and went and the children all played beautifully together, including the owners daughter. On the Sunday, the owners hired a bouncy pirate ship for the site which kept the kids entertained, and we postponed our trip out by a couple of hours to watch the kids enjoy themselves. Unfortunately, a power cut to the area stopped play in the afternoon (didn't affect us as we were out but disappointing for those on site). However, the following morning it was up and running again and the children were thrilled.
The site is perfect for exploring the local area. It's a short walk to the beach and Withernsea. There is a lighthouse to be explored and if you're prepared to drive out a bit, Mappleton, Hornsea, Beverley and York are lovely to visit. A couple of hours out is Robin Hood's Bay and Whitby, which are certainly worth a visit.
The owners of this site were friendly and approachable and whilst running about keeping the site tip top, would always have time for a chat. All in all, a lovely little site.

Single Axle Caravan - Electric Grass Touring PitchesJun 2023
Although booked for three nights, we actually only stayed one night due to meeting a friend in Hull. The campsite is well situated for visiting Withernsea and takes about 40 minutes to walk into.
The campsite has everything you need and although you have to pay a pound for your shower, it is reflected in the overnight cost. There are also some very unusual camping pods and other accommodation, like a double decker bus.
